The philosophy of God's existence.
The philosophy of God's existence.
Ok so philosophically I think of it like this, you have a child about four or five years old who comes to you and tells you about their imaginary friend for the sake of argument let's say it's name is lizara and 'she' is a half lizard half-girl person thing according to the child.
Now you really have two options as a parent you can just tell your child there is no Lizara, you could even get mad and send them to their room, tell them they can only come out when they admit that Lizara not real, but of course as any parent knows you can't do that to a four or five year old.
So what do you do?
You play along of course, now this may extend to all sorts of things, I speak from experience when I had to make the extra plate of dinner for Lizara or tuck her in at night.
Of course it was always interesting to note how often Lizara was sick, or not hungry, or just didn't like that food at dinner time, and of course who will finish it off, (Rhetorical).
She sure didn't eat much.
You even get to the point of only making a half-sized plate for both of them knowing full well only one is going to eat the half on the other plate.
Then comes that day, you're late, you have to race out to the car you're telling your child to get in otherwise you're gonna miss the bus and just as you sit to drive the child informs you that Lizara has not been buckled in to her seat.
You can't set a bad example so you have to get out and run/hobble on a twisted ankle all the way around the car when seconds count and buckle Lizara's seatbelt up.
It was at that moment that it dawned on me, Now I know how to explain the philosophical existence of God, while I'm drifting sideways around the corner on a remote dirt road and flooring it so fast the traction control cant keep up with a cloud of dust behind me praying we make it in time.
It is the same when anyone thinks about God, philosophically speaking allow me to try and explain.
I accepted the reality of the Lizara's existence, this is the same for everyone regarding what ever you perceived to be God, now we made it to the bus that day but of course no thanks to Lizara or my prayers.
And I had to accept that even though I thought my child may be clinically insane or need serious psychological help, I had enabled the behavior to manifest in the existence of an imaginary friend.
In this way I accepted Lizara's existence, even if only by acknowledging this pretend figment of my child's imagination for the sake of appeasing him.
The truth is as long as people accept that other people believe in God then they make God a very real part of their own existence, God is now a part of your reality as long as you acknowledge that other people believe in it, and you accommodate their faith.
It is not hard to understand that while one says they do not believe in God, They acknowledge it by simply driving their grandmother to church.
As long as it/God is a part of the life of someone you know, it becomes a very tangible part of your own reality, and something that you actually have to deal with in your own life.
Such is existence...
