No one is voting One Nation in...

Image
apologies for click bait headline There is a very old saying in Australia as true today as it has ever been, My long departed grandparents knew this simple premise to be true decades ago. Let me be clear, Australians are not going to vote One Nation into parliament. Everyone is going to vote Liberal and Labor OUT! The old adage is still 100% true, Australians never vote a party into office, we only ever vote people out. Even a cursory glance at history demonstrates this fact so I will spare you the long spiel of past examples, If you missed them that's fine, let's discuss the reality of the present. One might ask why didn't Aussies vote Labor out at the last election?  Now really, you shouldn't need me to explain the obvious fact that there was no visible opposition, in terms of policy at the last election our choice was limited to stay with the devil we know or replace it with a carbon ...

The Death Penalty.

Image
The Death Penalty for Crimes against Children. A life story. To begin I must admit a bias. They call me a survivor now days, and I will always hold some resentment regarding these matters. However I did have a(nother), rude shock at age 14, it was all so seemingly mundane really. It was a Saturday arvo about 3pm when my mate showed up, Wade, he asked me if I wanted to go to see a mutual friend, Assistant cricket coach Trevor, he was 22 and lived right across the road from the local club rooms. Anyways told mum and dad I might stay there, nothing unusual, Trev had worked for dad and it was only 4 blocks away, a 5 minute BMX ride to go home if I changed my mind. We got to the oval in time for BBQ, Trev had met a travelling couple who were parked up with a big caravan, They asked if they could camp in his driveway for the night all they needed was an extension cord for power and possibly use the toilet. They offered $50 and Trev agreed. The van was parked, they had 2 kids, 11 a...

BEWARE the "Farmers Market".

Image
Hello, ok I want to explain a true story that happened to me as a farmer, in 2010 I grew a big patch pumpkins, and there are a lot of odd ones or leftovers but still good very big, most of them approximately four kilos each. On one day as I was taking some ducks to market I decided to take 10 of my pumpkin's with me, there an unusual breed or species for the state of South Australia called jarrahdale's, not a very commercially popular type of pumpkin, anyway I went to the market which is an auction-based, meaning I have to pay 10% of any money that I acquire through the auction process to the vendor for providing the service.  I had to stack of 10 pumpkins which garnered a bid of $2.50 per pumpkin making a total of 25 dollars of which I lost $2.50 to the auctioneers.  I was present at the sale and I noted the persons buying said pumpkins, they definitely noticed me, this all happened on a Wednesday in 2010. We spent the night in the city and the following day Thursday w...

Free money psych.

Money is based on psychological debt*. *A Theory. MONEY... Of due course it is pertinent to start with a brief overview of that which I intend to discuss before the theoretical elements can be appreciated in context. Firstly a cursory glance at the meaning of the word Money. In short Money is a medium of exchange and or something with a socially acceptable kind of store value. You can look up the actual dictionary definition if you want to argue the basis. Then to clarify one must also recognise there was a time before the above mentioned existed, in fact there are some who would argue that trade and barter were precursors to the concept and they are only partially wrong. IMO. So before we can conceive of money or currency as a species we need a reason to do so, It is widely accepted that counting records or accounting if you will, came before the written language. It makes sense, before the need to convey ideas or thoughts in the longer term our species ...

Thoughts on the Porepunkah tragedy.

Image
Prologue - The author in no way supports the actions of anyone involved in this opinion piece, nor intends to glorify crime or criminals of any persuasion.  The thoughts and or facts shared within are based on hearsay and limited available evidence, this piece should be treated as entirely speculative on the writers part. August 26th.  The unusual case of currently missing and wanted alleged murderer Dezi Freeman aka (Desmond Filby) has been a public matter since first reported both in the new Mainstream media channels online and the old less popular establishment media via free broadcasts and cheap news papers. While it is not as widely reported on as one may think a situation of this magnitude should be, it is indeed a public matter of interest and one worthy of discussion surrounding the topics involved.  The author is engaged in pure speculation and readers should not take any opinions shared as any evidence of anything. From the beginning as the public is...

The philosophy of God's existence.

Image
The philosophy of God's existence.  Ok so philosophically I think of it like this, you have a child about four or five years old who comes to you and tells you about their imaginary friend for the sake of argument let's say it's name is lizara and 'she' is a half lizard half-girl person thing according to the child.  My Dog Patch.  Now you really have two options as a parent you can just tell your child there is no Lizara, you could even get mad and send them to their room,  tell them they can only come out when they admit that Lizara not real, but of course as any parent knows you can't do that to a four or five year old.  So what do you do?  You play along of course, now this may extend to all sorts of things, I speak from experience when I had to make the extra plate of dinner for Lizara or tuck her in at night.  Of course it was always interesting to note how often Lizara was sick, or not hungry, or just didn't like that food at dinner time, ...

Mangrove Jack. aka Bill.

Image
Mangrove Jack, the hobo fraud.  Not actually mangrove Jack, in fact his name was William, and he was just a straight out compulsive liar, which is probably half the problem, he was Dave one minute and mangrove Jack when beer was being shouted, then Brian the fisherman before disappearing for a week.  When you did run into him again he would be Box cart Joe on the north line, living in an empty box car and then there was Junk yard Bill who lived in a car in the Pt Wakefield Auto wreckers yard. I believe this mural is a composite image of locals depicting in part what William looked like 30 or 40 years before I met him. Now to back up this was around the time I knew Wolfe and lived near Pt Wakefield and I have done a lot of travelling since then, Mangrove Jack seems to be a mythological theme that permeates anywhere there is mangroves and hobo's as far as I have experienced. And even though my mangrove Jack wasn't, he still sort of was. So I heard the stories at...
